THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a MATERIALS HANDLER, Position Description Number D195000and is part of the FL 125th FW, National Guard.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709", and is open to Category 1 & 2 Only. Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the Florida National Guard and Category 2: All current military members of the Florida National Guard. First consideration will be given to Category 1.
Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard.

As a MATERIALS HANDLER, WG-6907-6, you will receive and process notice to stock parts and equipment. Assure incoming materiel matches that of the accompanying documentation. Examine materiel for shortages, overages and obvious damage and coordinates any discrepancies with the Cargo Movement Element. Store all in-warehouse supply and equipment items. Provide secure storage and handling of classified and sensitive items. Provide proper storage and handling of Electrostatic Discharge Items (ESD) in accordance with applicable technical orders and publications. Determine within the general warehousing plan how to arrange stock within the storage area. Select items to be issued and/or shipped and transfers them to the Cargo Movement Element for subsequent delivery/shipment
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a
rapid pace for long periods at a time. Frequently lifts and carries tools, parts, supplies, and equipment that weigh up to 70 pounds. May handle items that weigh over 70 pounds. Hand trucks, dollies, and other workers are available for assistance with heavier items.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside and outside. May work in areas that are hot, cold, damp, drafty, or poorly lighted. May be required to work outside, subject to inclement weather. Work may be dirty, dusty, and greasy. May be exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises, falls from ladders or other injury from mechanical conveyer systems or other material handling equipment. Will be required to wear personal protective items to ensure safety in accordance with AFOSH standards while working with hazardous materials.
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training which demonstrates the ability to compare item identification against receiving reports and issue request forms; skill in using hand trucks, dollies, and other equipment to move stock; ability to use hammers, pliers, and other hand tools; and to follow oral and written instructions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE*:* * WG-06 must have at least 9 months*experience or training in receiving, packaging, and preparation for shipment. Experience in compiling reports, overall warehouse planning, documentation requirements, and accepted warehousing methods, procedures and techniques. Experience in setting up and rotating storage locations considering factors such as life expectancy, available space, product turnover, etc.
Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership.
