CMC is currently looking for a truck driver to support our Jacksonville, FL location. This position requires a CDL license and will drive roll-offs and tractor trailers. Our truck drivers support the initiative of providing strong customer service in a timely, professional and courteous manner. CMC’s truck drivers are responsible for the pick up of products from customers, contractors, and job sites throughout the location’s local area region while adhering to all company, state and federal regulations. First shift, 6 am to 4 pm, with some overtime/Saturday work as needed. No overnights required; local area driving only.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Responsible for the pick up of metals from customers, contractors, and jobsites throughout the location’s local area.
Inspect vehicle(s) for any safety or operational defects using DOT, maintenance and safety checklists and ensuring emergency equipment is in proper working order.
Ensure vehicle is properly loaded and load secured and product is delivered safely and timely.
Securing chains across the width of a trailer to secure the product, both on the bed of a trailer and in an overhead rack.
Tarping of loads on trailers
Dropping and hooking trailers
Accurately complete corresponding delivery paperwork and work with production, sales and customers to communicate issues with loads and delivery time.
Maintain logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.
Log driver hours.
Drive trucks to weigh stations before and after loading and along routes to document weights as necessary to comply with state regulations.
Inventory and inspect goods to be moved to determine quantities and conditions.
Adhere to safety policies and procedures related to all facets of job including proper wearing of company PPE.
Experience and Skill Requirements
Minimum of two (2) years verifiable flatbed over-the-road driving experience for applicable tractor/trailer drivers.
Current Commercial Driver License required.
Ability to pass a company road test.
Ability to maintain DOT physicals and adhere to DOT drug testing requirements.
On-road preventable accidents during the past (3) years as shown on the Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) will be reviewed by CMC Logistics Management.
No more than one (1) moving violation on the MVR in the previous three (3) years.
No speeding, excessively, involving and speed of 15 mph or more above the posted speed limit in a 3 year period.
Must be able to work flexible schedules.
Perform additional duties as needed.
